America 250: Tin Punch Plates at Mint Hill Library (ages 5-12)

Hands-on tin punch craft celebrating America 250 at Mint Hill Library.

Kids ages 5-12 are invited to make their own decorative tin punch plates at this special America250 celebration event. Using paper plates and aluminum foil, children will learn about and recreate a traditional Colonial American craft technique. Historically, these punched-metal pieces served both practical and artistic purposes—they were fashioned into lanterns and decorative wall hangings. All the supplies your child needs are provided, so you can simply drop them off and let them create. This free program is open to rising first through sixth graders on a first-come, first-served basis, with spots available for the first 20 students. Registration is required, so be sure to sign up ahead of time to secure your child's spot. It's a great way to combine hands-on creativity with a bit of history during the summer.
