Bookworm Bunch

Monthly book club for young readers (ages 5–8) plus hands-on recipe activities.

Bookworm Bunch brings together young readers in grades 1–3 for a monthly book club experience. Each session includes two parts: kids discuss the chosen book as a group, then return the following week to prepare a recipe inspired by the story. This month's featured book is *Applesauce Day* by Lisa Amstutz. The cooking component uses the Charlie Cart, a mobile kitchen fully equipped to help children safely prepare their story-inspired dishes. This program works well for children who enjoy reading, discussing stories, and getting hands-on in the kitchen. Sessions run for one hour at the Youth Services Program Room. Registration opens in mid-September, so families interested in joining should watch for the sign-up window. For questions about the program or to register, contact Katie Lipshultz, the Library Program Specialist, at 704-878-3090 ext. 3097 or via email.
