Butterfly Release Experience

Butterfly Release Experience

Release butterflies in a garden setting at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden.

Your family gets a chance to participate in something truly special at this hands-on experience. You'll be part of a small group of up to 10 people who help release newly-arrived butterflies into the Butterfly Bungalow exhibit. During the 15–20 minute release, you'll carefully open protective envelopes and watch as each butterfly emerges and takes flight (or takes its time waking up—each one is different). You'll be surrounded by hundreds of free-flying butterflies as this happens, making it an intimate moment you won't forget. The event runs weekly on Wednesdays and lasts about 30 minutes total, giving everyone plenty of time to savor the experience without feeling rushed. Since it's a small-group event, the exhibit closes to the public during your time there. Admission is $10 per person, in addition to garden admission or a membership. Plan to arrive 10–15 minutes early so the group can start on time and make the most of your visit.
