Butterfly Release Experience

Families are invited to participate in a special behind-the-scenes experience at the Butterfly Bungalow where you'll help welcome newly arrived butterflies to their home. During this intimate 30-minute session, your group will carefully open protective envelopes and release butterflies into the exhibit. Seated among hundreds of butterflies already in flight, you'll get to observe each one's first moments—some take off immediately while others gently stretch their wings and acclimate at their own pace, making every release special and unpredictable. This small-group experience is limited to just 10 participants, which means the exhibit closes to regular visitors so your family can enjoy an unhurried, focused time. The actual release typically takes 15–20 minutes, with extra time built in to soak in the experience. Tickets are $10 per person, plus garden admission or a membership is required. Please plan to arrive 10–15 minutes early so the session can start on time and you'll have the full experience. This program runs weekly on Wednesdays and is ideal for children and families who love nature and want a hands-on wildlife moment.
