Countdown to Kindergarten

Is your child heading into kindergarten soon? Countdown to Kindergarten is a free family event designed to ease that transition and build confidence before the big first day. Your child will get hands-on practice with real school routines—like navigating the lunchroom, learning how to carry a tray, and understanding lunch number systems. These practical skills help young learners feel more prepared and less anxious about what to expect. Beyond the practical prep work, there's plenty of fun built in. Kids will participate in a Back to School Big Fun Dance Party and explore kindergarten readiness activities in a welcoming, low-pressure environment. It's a great opportunity for rising kindergarteners to experience some of what school will be like while staying in the supportive setting of Discovery Place Kids. The event runs for three hours in the evening, giving families a chance to attend after work or other activities. Best of all, there's no cost to participate.
