Dinosaur Fossil, Shark Tooth and Seashell Hunting for Kids

Dinosaur Fossil, Shark Tooth and Seashell Hunting for Kids

Dinosaur Fossil, Shark Tooth and Seashell Hunting for Kids at 107 Knox St

Your children will spend an hour learning the ins and outs of fossil and shell hunting from Dr. Ashley Oliphant, a recognized expert in shark teeth and seashells. The workshop begins with a hands-on look at an impressive collection of shark, whale, and dinosaur fossils, plus various seashell specimens. Kids will discover how fossils form and learn what responsible beachcombing looks like—understanding how to enjoy nature while protecting it for the future. The highlight comes at the end with a 10-minute fossil dig where children get to keep whatever they uncover. After the dig wraps up, Dr. Oliphant will be available to sign copies of her book "Shark Tooth Hunting on the Carolina Coast," answer questions from the group, and browse her pop-up shop featuring affordable fossils from across the country. This program is designed for children ages 5 to 11 and requires an adult companion. Space is limited to 12 participants, and registration opened July 4 by phone at 803-222-3474 or online.
