Donkey Meet & Greet

Your family can spend time getting up close with the donkeys that call the Greenway home. During this experience, you'll learn interesting facts about these friendly animals while enjoying time outdoors. Getting there is half the adventure—from the Dairy Barn Entrance, simply park and stroll past the historic barn along Blue Star Trail toward Steele Creek, then look for the donkey pasture on your left before the Swinging Bridge. If you're coming from Lake Haigler Entrance instead, head toward the visitor center, take a left on Blue Star Trail, cross the Swinging Bridge, and you'll find the pasture uphill on the right. This is a great outing for animal-loving kids of all ages who enjoy low-key outdoor activities. The whole experience takes about an hour and a half, giving families plenty of time to interact with the donkeys without feeling rushed. Once you've finished your visit, consider extending your day by stopping at the Greenway Canteen on the way out for a snack or lunch. It's a wonderful way to combine nature, learning, and a casual family adventure.
