Family Chess Club at Mint Hill Library (ages 5-18)

Learn chess strategy and tactics at Mint Hill Library's Family Chess Club.

Kids ages 5 and up are invited to join this weekly chess program at the library. During the hour-long session, young players will pick up chess fundamentals, learn strategic approaches, and discover different tactics that help them play better. Whether your child is brand new to the game or already knows their way around the board, there's a place for them here—beginners and experienced players alike are encouraged to participate. The club format gives kids a chance to practice what they're learning through actual gameplay, with options for one-on-one matches or group play. The program is run by library volunteers and meets most Saturday afternoons. Best of all, there's no cost to join and no registration required, so you can simply show up and let your child dive in. It's a relaxed way for kids to build problem-solving skills, learn cooperation, and have fun in a supportive community setting.
