Free Guided Docent Tour
Expert-led tour of botanical gardens with kids.
Meet a knowledgeable volunteer guide who'll walk your family through the garden while sharing fascinating stories about the property's history, the plants growing there, and the different habitats you'll explore. These free tours happen every Saturday morning and cover everything from the gardens' design to the wildlife you might spot. No registration required—just show up at the Garden Pavilion lobby and you're in. Keep in mind that groups are capped at 20 people, so arriving right at 11 a.m. gives you the best chance of joining in.
The tours run March through September and work well for kids ages 5 and up who enjoy being outdoors and learning something new. One thing to note: while the docent tour itself is completely free, non-members will need to pay the regular garden admission to participate. It's a wonderful way to make the most of your visit and get insider perspective on what makes this garden special.
