Free Guided Docent Tour

A knowledgeable volunteer guide will lead your family through the gardens, sharing insights about the property's history, natural habitats, plants, and landscape design. It's a wonderful way to explore the grounds with expert context, making the experience educational and enriching for visitors of all interests. The tour is completely free to join, and no advance sign-up is required—just arrive at the Garden Pavilion lobby at the scheduled time. Keep in mind that while the tour itself is free, non-member guests will need to pay standard garden admission to enter the grounds. The group is limited to 20 people, and the tour works best for children ages 5 and up. It's a lovely Sunday activity that combines outdoor time with learning from someone truly passionate about the gardens.
