Free Guided Docent Tour

A knowledgeable volunteer will lead your family through the gardens on Saturday mornings, sharing fascinating details about the landscape's history, plant life, wildlife habitats, and design. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn while exploring the grounds at your own pace alongside an expert guide. The tour lasts about an hour and is completely free—no need to sign up in advance. Just show up at the Garden Pavilion lobby at 11 a.m. and you're ready to go. Keep in mind that while the tour itself is free, non-members will need to pay regular garden admission to participate. The tour accommodates up to 20 people and works best for children ages 5 and up. These guided walks run every Saturday from March through September, making them a great recurring activity for families who want to deepen their knowledge of the gardens.
