Learning the Seven Art Elements Series
Learn design fundamentals through hands-on art at York County Library.
This series introduces adults to the seven foundational elements that artists use to create visual work: line, shape, form, space, color, value, and texture. Through exploring each element, you'll learn how line directs the viewer's eye, how shape and form differ between flat and three-dimensional artwork, and how space creates depth. You'll discover why color and value matter for mood and dimension, and how texture adds richness to a piece—whether real or suggested on the surface.
This program is designed for adults 18 and up who want to build a stronger understanding of art and develop their ability to think creatively. By the end, you'll have a deeper appreciation for how artists use these building blocks to express ideas and connect with viewers. Registration is required, and spots are limited, so sign up before the deadline. This is a great fit if you're curious about art but don't need prior experience—just a willingness to explore and learn.
