Morbidly Curious Book Club at Statesville Library Meeting Room
Do you enjoy reading about unusual topics like medical history, true crime, or the darker sides of human experience? The Morbidly Curious Book Club might be right for you. This group gathers monthly to discuss nonfiction books exploring subjects ranging from history and science to witchcraft and disease. It's part of a larger global community of over 16,000 readers who appreciate quirky and thought-provoking stories. This month's selection is "Empire of the Scalpel: The History of Surgery," which traces surgical development from ancient times to modern day through both rigorous research and compelling narrative.
The club meets on the fourth Thursday of each month for an hour-long discussion. This event is designed for adults 18 and older. You can pick up the monthly book at the Statesville Library's front desk, and a full reading list for 2026 is available to help you plan ahead. Registration is required, and there are 38 spots available. For details about signing up or to learn more, reach out to Shellie Taylor, the Library Program Specialist, at 704-878-3090 ext. 8801 or by email.
