Moths of the Night

Join local moth expert Lior Carlson for an evening dedicated to these often-overlooked pollinators native to North Carolina. The program kicks off indoors with a presentation covering the surprising diversity of local moth species, how to spot common varieties, and practical tips for making your yard more welcoming to these nighttime visitors. After learning the basics, you'll venture outside to observe moths in their element as they're drawn to illuminated collection sheets positioned throughout the gardens. This is a great opportunity for families curious about nature beyond the typical daytime insects. Tickets are $35 for non-members and $25 for members. The event runs from 6:30 to 10 p.m. at the Garden Pavilion, so plan for an evening outing and bring layers since you'll be outside after dark. Registration is required to attend.
