Open Play at the Nixon Park Nature Area

Nixon Park's Nature Area offers free open play where kids can explore and discover during regular park hours. At the nature center's front desk, families can borrow buckets filled with exploration tools—sifters, magnifying glasses, nets, and other supplies—perfect for investigating the Exploration Forest stream and muddy banks. This hands-on outdoor experience works great for curious kids who love getting messy and learning about nature up close. Bring water shoes and a towel, and plan to spend time splashing and digging in the stream environment. If you're coming with a group of 10 or more children, you'll need to register in advance by calling (717) 428-1961 x1 or emailing NixonCountyPark@YorkCountyPA.gov.
