Open Play at the Nixon Park Nature Area

Open Play at the Nixon Park Nature Area

Daily open play at Nixon Park Nature Area with borrowed toys—buckets, shovels & more at the nature center desk.

Kids can explore and play freely at Nixon Park's nature area during regular park hours. The nature center provides buckets filled with exploration tools—sifters, magnifying glasses, nets, and basic kitchen supplies—available to borrow at the front desk. These are perfect for investigating the Exploration Forest stream and muddy banks. This is a great way for children to get hands-on with nature and discover what's hiding in the water and soil. Best for families who enjoy outdoor exploration and don't mind getting wet and muddy. There's no cost to participate. If you're bringing a group of 10 or more children, you'll need to register in advance by calling (717) 428-1961 x1 or emailing NixonCountyPark@YorkCountyPA.gov—just provide your name, number of participants, children's ages, and a phone number. Come prepared with water shoes and a towel for a comfortable experience!
