Open Play at the Nixon Park Nature Area

Kids can explore freely during regular park hours at this outdoor play opportunity. The nature center's front desk loans out buckets filled with exploration tools—think sifters, magnifying glasses, nets, and other items perfect for discovering what's in the Exploration Forest stream and along the muddy banks. It's a wonderful way for children to get their hands dirty while learning about the natural world around them. This activity is completely free and works for kids of any age. Just remember to pack water shoes and a towel so your children stay comfortable while splashing and digging.
