Paws to Read at Matthews Library (ages 5-11)
Build reading confidence by reading aloud to a calm, patient dog volunteer.
Does your child need a little confidence boost with reading? Paws to Read offers a relaxed way for kids to practice out loud with a friendly volunteer therapy dog. Children sign up for individual 15-minute sessions where they can read at their own pace without pressure. It's a wonderful opportunity for young readers to build fluency and gain encouragement in a supportive setting.
The program is completely free and runs on a first-come, first-served basis, so arrive early to secure your spot. Registration opens 15 minutes before the first session begins. This is perfect for children ages 5 through 11 who want to work on their reading skills in a fun, low-stress environment with a furry friend cheering them on.
