Paws to Read at Matthews Library (ages 5-11)
Build reading confidence by reading aloud to a friendly therapy dog at Matthews Library.
Children ages 5 through 11 are invited to build reading confidence in a supportive, furry-friend environment. During this program, young readers take turns reading aloud to a trained therapy dog and volunteer from Matthews Library. It's a low-pressure way for kids to practice their skills while enjoying the calming presence of a four-legged listener.
Each child signs up for a 15-minute session on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration opens 15 minutes before the program begins, so arrive early if your child is interested in participating. This event is completely free and a wonderful opportunity for hesitant or developing readers to gain experience and encouragement in a gentle setting.
