Paws to Read at Matthews Library (ages 5-11)

Read aloud to therapy dogs at Matthews Library.

This volunteer-run program gives children a chance to build reading confidence in a supportive, low-pressure setting. Your child will read aloud to a trained therapy dog during a 15-minute session. It's a wonderful way for kids to practice their skills without worry—there's something about reading to a calm, patient dog that helps many children feel more at ease with reading aloud. The program operates on a first-come, first-served basis, so arrive early if you'd like to secure a spot. Registration opens 15 minutes before the first session begins, and there's no cost to participate. This is a great fit for kids ages 5 through 11 who want a little extra reading practice in a fun, relaxed environment.
