Paws to Read at Matthews Library (ages 5-11)
Build reading confidence by reading aloud to a therapy dog at Matthews Library.
Kids ages 5–11 can build their reading confidence at this special library program. During a 15-minute session, children read aloud to a volunteer therapy dog—a low-pressure way to practice their skills while enjoying a furry friend's company. The relaxed setting helps young readers feel more comfortable sharing their voices without worry.
Sessions run on a first-come, first-served basis, so arrive early to secure your child's spot. Registration opens 15 minutes before the program begins. This free event is a great fit for kids who are just starting out with reading or those who'd benefit from extra practice in a fun, encouraging environment. No registration fee means you can try it out without any cost to your family.
