Paws to Read at Matthews Library (ages 5-11)
Kids read aloud to trained therapy dogs to build reading confidence.
Your child will have a special opportunity to build reading confidence during this library program. Kids ages 5–11 are invited to read aloud to a trained therapy dog, turning practice into a fun and low-pressure experience. Each child signs up for a 15-minute session, and spots are filled on a first-come, first-served basis, so arriving early on the day of the event gives you the best chance of securing a slot.
The program is completely free and run by Matthews Library's dedicated Paws to Read volunteer team. Registration opens 15 minutes before the first session begins, so plan to arrive a bit early to get your child signed up. This is a wonderful activity for children who enjoy animals or those who could use some extra encouragement with their reading skills in a relaxed, supportive setting.
