Sensory-Friendly Hours

Sensory-friendly hours at Discovery Place Kids Huntersville — quiet, welcoming space for all learners.

Discovery Place Kids-Huntersville hosts sensory-friendly hours designed to give children with sensory sensitivities a chance to enjoy the Museum's interactive exhibits in a calm, quieter setting. These sessions occur on the first Sunday of each month and welcome children with autism spectrum disorders, sensory processing disorders, vision or hearing impairments, and their caregivers. The hands-on activities let kids explore at their own pace without the usual hustle and bustle. During your visit, the Museum provides sensory backpacks equipped with noise-canceling headphones and sensory-friendly toys to help make the experience more comfortable. These backpacks are available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last. The best part? This special experience is already included with your regular Museum admission—no additional ticket required. It's a thoughtful way to make sure all children can have a great time exploring and learning together.
