Sensory Saturday: Mammals

Sensory Saturday: Mammals

Early-morning sensory-friendly museum visit featuring mammal exhibits.

This special early-morning session welcomes families whose children or loved ones have sensory processing needs. The Museum opens its doors before regular hours, creating a calm environment with reduced lighting and sound so everyone can explore comfortably. You'll have access to the main exhibits plus a planetarium show designed with sensory considerations in mind. Staff will provide a social narrative before your visit to help prepare participants for what to expect. A highlight of the morning is the opportunity to examine actual mammal specimens up close. Since attendance is limited to registered guests only, the experience remains peaceful and unhurried. The event is free with general admission. Registration is required—simply email scheduler@chmuseums.org to secure your spot. This program welcomes all ages and is ideal for families seeking a museum experience tailored to sensory-sensitive visitors.
