The Art of Reading: “The Glassmaker”
The Art of Reading: “The Glassmaker” at Mint Museum Randolph
Join a guided exploration of Tracy Chevalier's novel "The Glassmaker," which tells the story of Orsola Rosso, a young woman in Renaissance Venice who defies tradition to become a master glassmaker. Her journey spans centuries, weaving together themes of family, artistry, and perseverance in a world that resisted women's contributions to the craft. This event invites you to discover how one woman's determination left a lasting impact on a male-dominated art form.
During this 90-minute program, you'll tour the museum's galleries alongside knowledgeable guides who will highlight connections between the novel's themes and the museum's own collections. You'll visit the Craft + Design galleries as well as Modern + Contemporary, European Art, and Delhom galleries to see how glassmaking traditions have evolved. General museum admission is included with your participation, so it's a great way to experience both the literary discussion and the art firsthand. If you need accessibility accommodations, reach out to the museum's ADA Coordinator at (704) 337-2081 or [email protected] for assistance.
