The Art of Reading: “The Glassmaker”

The Art of Reading: “The Glassmaker” at Mint Museum Uptown

Join a guided exploration of Tracy Chevalier's novel "The Glassmaker," which tells the story of Orsola Rosso, a Renaissance Venetian woman who defies tradition to become a glassmaker. The book follows Orsola across centuries as she navigates war, plague, and personal loss while secretly perfecting her craft and supporting her family through her delicate glass beads. This event brings the novel to life through a curated museum experience, making it a great way to deepen your appreciation for both literature and the art form at its heart. The evening includes a guided tour through the museum's Craft + Design galleries and Modern + Contemporary galleries at the Uptown location, with connections drawn to the broader history of glassmaking across centuries. You'll also have the option to visit the European Art and Delhom galleries at the Randolph location to see how tradition and transformation in the craft are reflected in the museum's collection. General museum admission covers your participation in this program. If you need accessibility accommodations, the museum's ADA Coordinator can assist with arrangements.
