Birding Walks

Guided birding walks at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden—spot local birds in nature.

Join a guided exploration of local birds and their habitats along the scenic trails at Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden. Led by experienced birdwatcher Gail Ice, a longtime Garden volunteer, this walk welcomes participants of all ages and skill levels—whether your family has never held binoculars before or you're already passionate about birding. You'll learn about the bird species that live in the Garden, observe them in their natural setting, and discover beautiful spots throughout the grounds. If you have binoculars at home, bring them along to enhance the experience, though they're not required. The walk departs from outside the Visitors Pavilion and lasts one hour. No advance registration is needed—simply arrive and join in. Dress your family in comfortable hiking shoes and layers, and bring rain gear since the walk happens rain or shine. Leave pets at home, and remember to follow Leave No Trace principles to protect the wildlife. Keep in mind that if your family wants to explore more of the Garden after the walk, non-members will need to purchase admission tickets.
